Body:

A work session meeting of the Town Board of the Town of Trenton was held at the Trenton Municipal Center, Barneveld, NY.  Supervisor Mark Scheidelman called the meeting to order at 7:35 p.m.  Present: Councilmen Betsy Mack, Shirley Poland, Bruce Kellogg, Joe Smith and Planning Board Chairman David Wilcox.

Mark Scheidelman stated the Town Board has two interviews scheduled for this evening.  Michelle Reid and Robert Day are the applicants for the Secretary/Assistant position for the Planning Board.  Scheidelman asked Dave Wilcox for a recommendation for a job description for this position.  Discussion was held on duties and requirements need for a Planning Board Clerk.  The Board agreed to go with $9.00/hr for a clerk with the use of a Planner if required.  The decision was previously agreed upon at the February 2, 2006 Town Board Meeting.

The work session meeting was suspended at 8:00 pm to begin the interviews.

The work session meeting resumed at 9:15 pm at the conclusion of the interviews.

06-74 Motion by Kellogg, seconded by Smith, to hire Michelle Reid for the position of Planning Board Clerk at the rate of $9.00/hr effective immediately and to request Bob Day stay on to assist Michelle for a couple of meetings.  Roll call:  Poland, aye; Smith, aye; Scheidelman, aye; Mack, aye; Kellogg, aye.  Motion carried.

TAP:  The Town received an e-mail from Lans Anderson requesting a meeting with Tom Hughes.  Anderson met with the Planning Board a couple of weeks ago.  The Peirson cottage construction has been put on hold.  This morning construction started again.  The Town received numerous calls.  Steve Hunter issued cease and desist orders.  All activity at the Trenton Assembly Park has been ordered stopped until the Trenton Town Board approves zoning for the Trenton Assembly Park.  Dave Wilcox will call a Special Meeting of the Planning Board next Wednesday to recommend what direction the Town Board will need to follow.  Scheidelman reported he told the TAP members it would be a 4 to 6 months process to make changes to the zoning.

BEACH:  Rebecca Provost sent a report from the Swim Beach.  Staff evaluations are on file in the Supervisor’s office.  Discussion was held on the diving board for the pool.  The Town Board is in agreement that 2 8’ diving boards, for a cost less than 1 12’ diving board, would be a viable solution for the pool if Lindsey and Rebecca are comfortable with the decision and Tim Moriarity has no problems with the installation.

06-75 Motion by Joe Smith, seconded by Bruce Kellogg, to authorize the Supervisor, pending recommendations and okays by Tim Moriarity and Lindsey Doolittle on safety and do ability, to purchase and install two eight foot diving boards.  Roll call:  Kellogg, aye; Mack, aye; Scheidelman, aye; Smith, aye; Poland, aye.  Motion carried.

Anita Adam reported the used Plow the Town had her list on e-bay did not sell with the second listing.  each listing costs $50.00.  Mack suggested the Town list the Plow on the Town Website.

Community Hall:  The lower four boards of siding and the crown moldings need some work.  Joe Smith asked Tim Moriarity to get some prices for repair.  Bryant Painting quoted to hand scrape, sand and paint for $4100.00.

South Trenton:  Discussion was held on restoring voting and recreation programs to the South Trenton Community Center.  Bathroom, adequate lighting and adequate parking are still concerns the Town Board members have.  The Town Board would like to know if the application for the Senator’s Grant was sent in.

The work session meeting was adjourned at 10:15 pm.

Respectfully submitted,

Katharine Squire
